Members: Master Meredith has fantastic write ups available on his website. He studies under Master Bruno, Secretary of the ITF, and he really knows his stuff. There is a ton of great information available at his MyKarateKicks web site and I highly recommend taking a look at it.

New River Tang Soo Do (NRTSD) is sponsored by the International Tang Soo Do Federation, or ITF, and therefore complies with all ITF testing requirements and standards. NRTSD strives to maintain and uphold the standards of the ITF so that students can go to any ITF school in the world and learn the exact same curriculum and continue their martial arts journey towards Black Belt and beyond.

A typical journey to Black Belt in the ITF takes a minimum of 4 and a half years based on the students performance. The journey continues for the student as there are multiple degrees of Black Belt for the student to obtain. In order to reach black belt and beyond, a student must acheive the following:

White Belt, Yellow Belt, Orange Belt, Orange Belt with 1 Stripe, Green Belt, Green Belt with 1 Stripe, Green Belt with 2 Stripes, Red Belt, Red Belt with 1 Stripe, Red Belt with 2 Stripes, Blue Belt, Blue Belt with 1 Stripe, and Black Belt. As mentioned, additional experience and degrees of black belt must be obtained before achieving Masters.

Terminology

It is important to know a decent amount of terminology. Learning the Korean will help you understand meaning behind techniques and connections between them. Tests are conducted increasingly in Korean as you progress. All students yellow belt and up will receive a manual with extensive terminology from the International Tang Soo Do Federation.  For white belt students here is a link with basic terminology.
